Return & Refund Policy

At Norvella Siberians, we are committed to ensuring that every kitten finds their perfect forever home. This Return & Refund Policy outlines our terms regarding deposits, refunds, and our commitment to the welfare of our kittens. Please read this policy carefully before making a deposit or completing an adoption.

Deposit Policy

Reservation Deposits

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a specific kitten. This deposit secures your chosen kitten and removes them from availability to other potential adopters. The deposit amount varies and will be communicated to you during the reservation process. The deposit is applied toward the total adoption fee.

Why Deposits Are Non-Refundable

When you place a deposit on a kitten, we remove that kitten from our available listings and decline other interested families. We may also turn away potential adopters for other kittens if we believe your chosen kitten would be a better match for them. Additionally, we invest time and resources in preparing for your adoption, including:

  • Regular updates with photos and videos
  • Continued care and socialization specifically for your family
  • Veterinary appointments and health documentation
  • Coordination of shipping or pickup arrangements
  • Administrative time and communication

Waitlist Deposits

If you place a deposit on our waitlist for a future litter rather than a specific kitten, this deposit may be transferable to a different litter if your desired characteristics are not available. Waitlist deposits are also non-refundable but give you priority when suitable kittens become available.

Refund Conditions

Exceptional Circumstances

While deposits are generally non-refundable, we may consider partial refunds in the following exceptional circumstances:

  • Documented family emergency (death, severe illness requiring hospitalization)
  • Sudden job loss with proof of unemployment
  • Military deployment orders
  • Documented severe allergic reaction discovered before taking possession of the kitten

Each case will be evaluated individually, and refunds, if granted, will be partial and at our discretion. We require documentation for any refund requests based on exceptional circumstances.

Breeder's Decision Not to Sell

If we determine that an adoption is not in the best interest of the kitten and choose not to proceed with the sale (e.g., concerns about the home environment, falsified information, inability to meet adoption requirements), your deposit will be fully refunded.

Kitten Unavailability Due to Breeder

If a kitten becomes unavailable due to circumstances on our end (illness, death, decision to keep for breeding program), you will receive a full refund or the option to select another available kitten or wait for a future litter.

Health-Related Returns

Health Guarantee Coverage

Our health guarantee policy (detailed on our Health Guarantee page) covers congenital and genetic defects. If a covered condition is diagnosed within the guarantee period:

  • You may return the kitten for a full refund of the adoption fee (excluding shipping)
  • You may exchange the kitten for another available kitten when one becomes available
  • You may choose to keep the kitten and receive a partial refund to help with veterinary costs

All health-related returns or exchanges require complete veterinary documentation from a licensed veterinarian and must be reported to us within the timeframe specified in our health guarantee.

Required Veterinary Examination

You must take your kitten to a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving them. Any health concerns must be identified and reported to us during this initial examination period to be covered under our health guarantee. Failure to obtain this examination voids our health guarantee.

Buyer's Remorse Policy

We do not accept returns due to buyer's remorse, change of mind, or personal circumstances that arise after taking possession of a kitten. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Change of heart about wanting a cat
  • Behavioral issues that are normal for kittens (scratching, biting during play, nighttime activity)
  • Discovering allergies after taking possession of the kitten
  • Family member objections that were not considered before adoption
  • Moving or housing changes
  • Cost of care concerns

Adopting a kitten is a serious commitment, and we take great care to ensure families are fully prepared before adoption. We encourage all potential adopters to:

  • Discuss the adoption with all family members before making a deposit
  • Research Siberian cat care requirements and costs
  • Consider their current and future living situation
  • Test for allergies if concerned (we can arrange visits when possible)
  • Ask us any questions before committing to adoption

Re-homing Situations

While we do not accept returns for buyer's remorse, we understand that unexpected life circumstances can sometimes make it impossible to keep a cat. If you find yourself unable to care for your Norvella Siberian at any point in their life:

Contact Us First

Please contact us before making any decisions about re-homing your cat. Per our adoption contract, you are required to notify us and give us first right of refusal. We want to ensure all our cats remain in good homes throughout their lives.

Our Assistance

We will work with you to find solutions, which may include temporarily fostering the cat while you resolve your situation, helping you find a suitable new home, or taking the cat back into our program. No refund will be provided in re-homing situations, but we are committed to ensuring the cat's welfare.

Our Commitment to Kitten Welfare

The welfare of our kittens is always our top priority. While our deposit and refund policies are necessarily firm to protect our breeding program and ensure serious commitments from adopters, we are reasonable people who care deeply about both our kittens and our adopters.

We encourage open communication throughout the adoption process. If you have concerns, questions, or circumstances change, please talk to us. We want every adoption to be successful and every kitten to thrive in their forever home.

We provide lifetime breeder support to help ensure successful adoptions. If you are experiencing challenges with your kitten, we are here to offer guidance, advice, and resources to help you and your kitten succeed together.

Process for Returns or Refund Requests

If you believe you have grounds for a return or refund under this policy:

  1. Contact us immediately at norvellasiberians@gmail.com with a detailed explanation of your situation
  2. Provide all required documentation (veterinary records, proof of circumstances, etc.)
  3. Allow us reasonable time to review your request and documentation
  4. Work with us cooperatively to reach a resolution
  5. If a return is approved, coordinate the return of the kitten according to our instructions

All returns must be coordinated with us in advance. Abandoning a kitten at a shelter or giving them away without our knowledge violates our adoption contract and may result in legal action.
